The Ghostly Monk at Loirston Loch
In Cove Bay there is a story about a ghost monk who is said to haunt the road which runs alongside the Loch of Loirston. I remember a story from years ago about a man who was driving down the road on a very misty evening. As he was driving along someone walked out in front of the car. He screeched to a halt, and thinking that he had hit someone called the police. There was, however, no one found.
There have been other reports of the ghost who is believed to dress in a monks robe haunting that particular piece of road. He is said to be seen on misty but still nights and walks towards the Loch. It is reported that the land was gifted by the Monks of Arbroath, and many believe that this is why the ghostly figure inhabits this piece if land.
