The Fairy Hillock at Peathill
Across the field from Walter Gregor's manse lies in the old glebe ground a circle of trees.
The olden legends tell the tales of how the nature spirits spent their nights at Happy Hillock, still marked by the farm name at Peathill, but danced the nights away at their communal power base their circle of light.
In the olden days people would not venture near it for fear of disturbing the nature spirits as they were extremely superstitious and there was this inner connection of respect.
Although a deeply religious community, surprisingly enough they had a fear of the unknown and thus respected it rather than ignore it.
